because it's the top of the line? My favorite is: "DO YOU HAVE AN EXCUSE...oops answer TO COVER EVERY QUESTION, when asked about your hobby?") The story is the same but the names have been changed to protect the innocence...ROFL ;D

No I never ask my self fo I really need it because the answer would be NO! So if I don't ask it and just buy it I do not feel so guilty and YES my cupboards are full of all those things I might want to use one day, even if I have no use for it at this moment.

I would just answer that question as supplies on hand necessary to get the job done. After all we are crafters and have to have stuff to be creative. lol

I guess when it comes to embroidery and quilting you could say that applies, but I'm not going to admit it. If my husband asks though, everything is absolutely necessary!! LOL :-)

Well, I can't really say I'm a "horder". I usually just buy what I need and I really do need things all the time and it really has a good use, someday! Thread and stabilizer and material, is there really a such thing as too much?

I love embroidering towels, would you believe about 10 minutes ago I moved a very very large bag of towels and opened the cupboard and guess what I found!!!!!! about 6 pairs of towels in the cupboard. Just promised myself NO MORE until these have been embroidered. We have 3 old cars, tea towels, teaspoons, miniature tea sets, coasters, stamps, matchbox cars, coins etc. Yes, you could say we are hoarders or maybe collectors is a better word. Marg

I have to admit that I am one! Like Marg lots of my hoard is towels to embroider on, or teatowels, or shirts, or tablecloths...you get the picture. Of course I often don't have the colour I really need, so I'm often tempted to buy more and in more quantity. I do use a lot of them -eventually, but I'm not sewing fast enough. Other things I want to do keep jumping into the front of the queue... Of course the people who most stir me about my hoard are also the ones who asks me to do things for them...funny 'bout that!

I like going to markets, garage sales ,fetes etc & often find very cheap fabrics, laces, threads ,felt etc that I buy because because they maybe useful & they are so so cheap but really don't need. The main problem with this ,is where to keep them when I get home.

I only have very little space when it comes to storing. I have so much material stored that half the time I have no idea why or when I bought it!!! I now try to say to myself "do you want this or do you need this" - so far it hasn't really helped!!! Love the question. Sarah.

I guess I too am a "collector" (I like that word better!!)BUT buying things for sewing etc. keeps me very HAPPY! Just ask my DH!! I am sew happy in my sewing room as I love to create and mostly give to someone to make their day special!! Most people I know don't sew at all so this keeps me very busy and it also makes ME feel good to bring a smile to someones face....SEW LONG for now!! :)

Oh no MOnica, not me! My GM was a big time horder... granted, she had a 5K square foot house in Los Angeles with a housekeeper, but I remember seeing "stuff" everywhere. I won't buy anything unless I will actually use it. HATE storing stuff. I actually CAN park both cars in my garage! LOL

Oh my goodness, I am so very, very pleased to find that there are more people with my disease!!! I am addicted to collecting embroidery files and addicted to buying material. I have got to a stage where I hide my fabric away when I come home or my poor husband will have heart failure! When I go to the fabric store now I DONT TAKE THE CREDIT CARD!!! Doesnt help though cos I always have some cash stashed away!!! LOL

Oh dear goodness, yes! Especially about crafty items - like yarn. I had 4 or 5 rubbermaid containers of yarn sitting in my hallway. My husband razzes me all the time and asks me when I'm going to do something with it. I finally realized it has been sitting there for 4 years and I haven't touched it. I decided to donate the yarn that drro doesn't need/want to my local Linus Project. I am under strict orders from her to not doing anything with it until she has a chance to look at it. Sorry, dad :(

And that's just ONE of my hobbies...I also make jewelry and cards/stationary. One of the crafts had to be sidelined when digitizing embroidery came into my life ;)

everybody says "you should see her basement", "you should see it". I think not. But when they need something, they know who has it. At the price of gas and living 36 miles from town, now I know why I saved it. Ha Ha Sorry didn't relize it was an old question!!!

I am not admitting to being a horder, just a smart shopper LOL I have been very good lately until that yard sale LOL have been trying to use things I have rather than buy more, but it seems like I always need something I don't have, so off to the store I go and never leave with just 1 thing have to get a few things, never know it was a good price and couldn't pass it up. Or for a project I have in mind and would like to have it on hand when I want to do it, so hoarder no!!!! smart shopper LOL

I have a very modest fabric stash, a stash of stabilizers that I replenish when needed and a small collection of beads and things, I have no trouble getting rid of things I don't need. I go through my clothing about twice a year and throw stuff away. So I am not a hoarder in the typical sense, however I do hoard electronic files. I have pictures, documents, designs, software downloads and miscellaneous other junk on my computer, when I format or upgrade I transfer the files to an external drive, I have two external drives full of stuff that I clearly don't need. So I promised myself I will sort it all out in the next couple of weeks and unplug the drives from my pc and put them away. If I don't get them sorted soon I will need an intervention. lol.

Quite the question! I don't think I'm a hoarder, I just have lots of material (I'll use some day - at least when I need something I don't have to go to the city to try to find what I need, especially after 6pm.). I also have a bunch of yarn and then there's thread - serger, reg. sewing, and embroidery. Then all the notions, etc. We all NEED lots of them.
It's really smart shopping when you get awesome sales, like buying 1 meter and getting 2 free!
Not enough time for all my hobbies and then I went and added machine embroidery to it! Oh, so much fun! If you need a change, just do a different one or better yet work on a second one while your machine is doing it's thing.
