I can not answer this as I have never embroidied felt. I know that you will get an answer, because I read where some of our friends have done this. More hugs and a flower.

I've already embroidered in felt and didn't use stabilizer. The work did very well.

I have embroidered on fleece which looks like felt, I used a stabilizer which you can tear away after finishing. but I think you can also embroider without.

I think it depends on your embroidery design. If it is like a quilt-design, you don't need stabilizer. But if it is dense, like a cartoon or so, then you will need stabilizer of some kind.

I have never tried embroidery on felt, but according to my instruction manual, felt is listed as not needing stabilizer. Try a scrap first if it is not too costly and see how you go.

Since felt is a non-woven, non-knit material, you don't have to use a stabilizer. It isn't going to stretch on you, nor will it be overwhelmed by a moderate to larger number of stitches. Try it without stabilizer and I think you will be pleased with the results.

I have had better results using a stablizer. I was using tear-away but after doing some reading on emblibrary I started using cut-away and was happier with the results. I was doing pretty dense designs. Bottom line looks like you will have to experiment and make your own decision. Good luck!

Hi, Letvia, I use felt all the time. I have done designs like redwork on felt with no stabilizer, heavier designs with a tearaway behind it, for example I made a walker-caddy for my aunt out of felt, didn't want anything on the inside to be 'catchy' so I used tearaway. I also sometimes when making quilt squares, use the felt as the stabilizer. The designs, mostly redwork type, come out actually 'quilted' looking because the felt has that thickness to it. I'm blabbering, I'll probably have to post a picture of this if I can get one good enough. I've tried, but the contrast isn't enough to see the quilting. Play with it, Letvia, I think you'll find yourself buying lots of felt. Luv, Marji

Hi, Letvia, I posted projects of my Aunt Katie's walker caddy that I embroidered on white felt. I digitized those hot air balloons, too. The colors are much brighter than in the scan. Luv, Marji
