It is never easy for a mother to see her son go off to war. We are proud and support our servicemen. Unfortunately this is a part of their service duties. Our prayers are with you and Alex, and may God keep him in His guiding care, and a safe return to him home.

Laura,
There is no love like a "mother's love, and the maternal fear and heart squeezing you are feeling at this time, has to be one of the most unimaginable pains! As hard as it is to do, "Let go, and let God!" He is in good hands! Alex knows how much you love him and are proud of him! I, along with you, will be praying for his safe return. He is a strong and honorable young man for all he is sacrificing for our freedoms! There are no sufficient words to express my true gratitude for the sacrifices made by all our troops and their families to keep this country free! May God bless you all!

Angel, everything you wrote is so true - what I am feeling right now is just as you describe. And, I will "let go and let God" - I know I will do just that. I appreciate your words!! Hugs, Laura

Laura, I just now saw this - so sorry I didn't respond sooner - I know how proud you are of Alex and his service work. I will be praying for the two of you. Him for his courage to stand up for the freedom that we all enjoy daily. Where will his unit be going, do you know? What an honor it is to know a young service man, through you - I am so grateful for his and other's like him for doing this for all of us. I will be praying for you - to be strong - to get through this time - without fear and worry - he will be prayed for around the world - we support him in his endeaveors and you - while he is deployed. Unconditional Love, Shirlene

Thank you, Shirlene! He asked us not to say where he will be. But I know. I feel a little better today. We are moving to a new temporary apartment in Pennsylvania this weekend and that will keep both DH and I very very busy, which is a good thing! I appreciate your prayers!!! Hugs, Laura*
by shirlener88 14 Jan 2011
Oh I understand - that he should say nor should you - of coarse. I do think your move to the temporary apartment in PA is a God send - actually - I am glad you will be busy - keep in touch and know that we are here for you - through thick and thin dear. Alex is well trained and he will be in God's hands and so will your fears - if you give it to HIM to help you get through this time.

Laura,
I can only say that I know how you feel. Our only son & only child is to go back to the war zone for the 4th time the middle of next month. Many people ask me how can I stand it? My answer is that "I don't live my life with what if's". This can scare you to death. You and the Lord just have to take care of things as they come. Give it to God to take care of him and know that he will. Yes I know it is a dangerous place and many don't come home but just believe and he will be home before you know it. These men & women that serve our country are the very best we have. I truly believe that they are given the best traning that the US Goverment can provide and as long as they follow orders they will be protected. God bless Alex and his unit as well as all our troups in harms way. I will add a little prayer form him when I pray for our son. Please put this in Gods hands and don't destroy yourself with fear and anxity. He will need you when he returns.
Blessing to you & yours.
Mary

Hi Laura I can say I know exactly how you feel. Our younger son is in the military and has been deployed several times. The last time was for a year and I was so frightened. Fortunately we were able to stay in touch by computer and Facebook. I hope your Alex stays safe and he as well as all the other soldiers are in my prayers. Send him lots of goodies and things he can share with his buddies, they love doing that.Be sure to stitch up some FSL angels and add to the goodie box. I got to know several of the my son's friends he served with while deployed then some were at his wedding last August. They all called me mom and told me how they enjoyed my packages and talking to them on the computer and Facebook. Blessings to you and yours.

I remember when my son joined the army, my heart broke I was so worried. He didn't stay in the army long but a mother is always worries about their children. Your son has my prayers and so do you. We can't be with our children to protect them all the time, they must take their own path. Where is your son going? We can't know what will be, we can only pray, and that is what I will be doing for you and your son. God bless

I'll certainly keep your Alex in my prayers. We have a nephew who has been deployed for several tours, and it is difficult to think of him so far away, but we must trust the Lord for our children's (and our own) safety every day. May God bless you and him.
