This is a legitimate question and not stupid. I have'nt done any crosstitch but my friend has the same machine as u and do them with great results. I think what puts me off is the lot of colour changes. *4u

No laughing here...It's a GREAT question... Anything that is within your hoop size and is a PES design, can be stitched out on your machine. I would be sure to slow your machine down when doing it, like you would with FSL...

I don't see why not. I have the same machine and it works on it. (P.S. You should have seen some of the questions I've asked if you want to say stupid or laugh. LOL)

There are no stupid questions. I see you have good answers I might add that it is fun to do the cross stitch on the regular hand cross stitch fabric-looks pretty realistic. Have fun.

question are always welcome, there are always people with the same questions and people who will try to help.
As long as the design is in the right format(PES) and in the size 4x4 you can stitch the x stitches designs. They are fun to see if the design is busy, sometimes you think what will it be , but it will be alright and is fun to do. Besides it looks like you did all of it by hand,and the machine did the job for you. Just try and enjoy!!

No question is ever stupid, and not everyone has all the answers. We're a group and think you'll most are knowledgable but we were all at the same place you are now at one time or another. See that your question has been asnwered, so have fun doing cross stitching by machine.

I remember when I didn't know what ITH (in the hoop) meant. I had to ask.
Even now my brain gets mixed up when I see "ME". It stands for machine embroidery. But I always thinks of Mary Englebreit.

No one laughing at you, its a great question, especially for all newbies. I am still learning and this is something I just learned about too. I wish there was a page with appreviations, etc. that have to do with Embroidery only. For instance I just recently found out ITH=In The Hoop, and FSL=Free Standing Lace, ME=Machine Embroidery. I am sure there are tons of others ones. So whenever you have a question, just ask, someone will be able to answer it, and a lot of others will appreciate getting the answer because they don't know either.

Yes and you are not silly. As long as the design is not too large for your machine to handle. ie you have a hoop that is large enough for the design.

The only stupid questions are the ones "unasked"! LOL I found it so simple to just ask, instead of continuously wondering about something. I love cross stitch, and went for a long time after I got my machine, thinking all cross stitch was by hand. Then, when I finally read underneath the cross stitch designs that it said machine embroidery, as well as hand, I was thrilled! You just need to be sure the design is a 4x4 size. I stitched a cross stitch design on the aida fabric for cross stitch and it turned out great.

I had a 4x4 Disney, until My granddaughter, then 8 try to learn how to used it, but yes you can do Cross stitck, I did, sadly all I have left are three hoops, foot pedal, power cord,etc.,hahahahahaha.

Yes you can, just make sure the embroidery design is for a 4 x 4 hoop

The computer in the machine just stitches X's instead of straight lines--so no problem doing machine cross stitch. Aren't these machines amazing and fantastic? What will they think of next?

there is no such thing as a stupid question. no one came on to this earth knowing all that there is to know. Their maybe others who were wondering about the same thing, and now the question is answered and will be her for others in the future. Have fun with your cross stitch.

Never feel stupid, you can't learn if you don't ask. I have asked some doozies! I have been embroidering just over a year and haven't done a cross stitch one yet myself. My machine is a Brother SE-350 and only does 4x4 also. I am frustrated and wish I had found this site before I bought my machine! Welcome to cute!

No question is stupid. I have a very old Bernina that also does only 4x4. I have done many x stitch designs and they have all sewn beautifully. Good luck and please post your design so we can see. Hugs Sarah.

I see you have your answer I have done a little cross stitch on my machine in 4x4 hoop and it turned out great.

Wonderful question and I'll just add my 2 cents worth. A friend advised that I buy a selection of needles, and change them when the machine had troubles. I like the titanium ones for regular stitching. When my machine jams or messes up, I first rethread, then blow out the bobbin case with compressed air, and then change the needle. It has helped my sanity to realize that needles get burrs and such, and need to be replaced.
Cross stitch designs usually take longer to stitch out, but also give a lot of detail and look great.

The machine doesn't judge about the stitch direction.
Lines, swirls or crosses are just a computer programm.
So this really doesn't matter and your machine will do well, I am sure.

The only consideration for me is: cross stitch is a technique typically meant for the grain of a fabric, a more rough texture and you have to go across a certain number of threads in the fabric to look "original" and "true".
This is very hard to achieve with a machine.

If you want to try out, visit Maurer Strohs freebie archive (you have to log in), they have very nice smaller designs, f.e. fruits for jar covers.

Ok You can go to bed now 1004 flowers for you. I had a brother and it coped very well with cross stitch, does make a difference about what material you use. Helen

I used poplin with stabiliser and it was fine. Guess it depends on what tests out the best for the project. Helen
