Does anybody have embroider on canvas? Do I need to use stabilizer? Thanks

letvia, I believe it would depend on the thickness of your canvas. Most of them are actually thick enough that you wouldn't need a stabilizer, but it never hurts to use a tear away, just to be safe and secure that your embroidery on this canvas item is going to stand up to the test of time. What needle's type do you need?

A good way to tell what size needle is to try to gently pierce the fabric and if it goes through without pushing it will work. P.S. I don't us stabilizer on canvas but I do hoop it tight.

I have embroidered on canvas before, and I would definitely recommend using stabilizer. Try tear away... Good luck with your hooping - canvas will give you a work out!

I am making magnets both sides are out of canvas and I place a piece of craft weight stabilizer on the back piece just to give some extra stiffness.

Unless it is very thick I would use stabalizer. I did for the thin type of canvas for extra support.
