Sorry to here of their loss. Thank god everyone was safe. Alot of times communites do fund raisers for families who lose their homes to fire. I know it doesn't make up for all that was lost, but it does help. I wish only the best for them!

My heart goes out to them - sometimes we just have to wait to see when the other boot will drop - this must be very devastating. Our prayers go out to them.

So sad, but the good news is that the family is safe and sound. Material things can be replaced lives can't. Hopefully the community will rally around them and help them out.

That is so sad! Glad they are safe and the dog too. I can't imagine that they did not have insurance on it, we had to have insurance set up before they would let us sign the mortgage paperwork. Best wishes to them but don't know what good that does them. So sorry.

My heart goes out to them. We lost everything in a fire in 1975...a house in the country. It was a rental but we did not have rental insurance so I know how it feels...but the great thing is everyone was safe & the dog too. I also had a dog & she was spared too. Material things can be replaced. It hurts I know as I lost a lot of stuff from my childhood as well. Time will heal. We had to file bankrupcy because we also had all new furniture & was still paying on it but no longer had it. I hope all goes well for them as they try to recover. Our community all rallied around & threw us a shower at the Church & we got a lot of nice things to start over...toaster, coffee pot, pots & pans, dishes & one person just happened to finish remodling a 2 bedroom house which he rented to us for $75 a month. We were bless by the people of the community. I hope your sister & her husband are as lucky.

Oh Maria, this must be devastating for them.

Surely there was building insurance!!!
In Australia you cannot build a house without builder's insurance and it covers the house for a further SEVEN years after the owners take possession.

Can they not check and find out, at least their home would be replaced.

I do hope they will be able to recover from this loss and that the community will come to their aid to help.
Perhaps someone could write to Extreme Makeover and tell them.
Hugs and blessings, Meganne

Oh , Maria , I am so sorry. How did they manage to close the deal without a years paid policy on home owners? Do they have any recourse with the closing attorney? This is so sad. I guess she had bought all new baby items.
