For my table linnen:
Starch my fabric, Iron the hems ,Sew the hems. Gently fold the fabric and iron creases to divide the cloth, This helps to place the designs.
Print out templates for the designs so that I can see where to place them .Sometimes I just cut out paper squares to the design size. Try to picture the table when it is set with plates and cutlery so you don't lose the designs under the plates, or serving dishes. Then using masking tape I mark the center crosshair marks.
I double up on the tear-away (use two sheets) and hoop with the fabric.
I choose poly embroidery threads because it washes beter for linnen. And I like the thinner embroidery needle "schmetz" 11(75).
Hope something helps here.
Happy stitching.
