I acquired a free FSL bookmark that I love. Can anyone revise the PES design program to do three of them per hooping to save time and materials?

Can't your machine do this with its inbuilt capability? My Janome can, so I thought they all could!

You could also mark the center points of three designs on your hooped fabric and stich them out jumping your start of each to the center points marked.
If you have the Pe-design program . First design the page to your largest size mine will be a 6X10. you select the design in layout and editing copy and paste it twice and move each to line them up nicely. You could also sort your colours in the sew color order if you like.

P.s. I hope three bookmarks would fit in one hooping cos I never did three yet!Depends on the size Bookmark?

My machine as well as my software can both duplicate a pattern. But I have to agree with Sciencewidow that it is not recommended to duplicate a FSL design in one hooping due to streaching and pulling. You will probably waste more material due to your design pushing and pulling. Also welcome to Cuties these folks really know there stuff. I have learned a lot from all the Cuties. *4U

I had not heard about not duplicating before - I have successfully done it with a number of different designs - primarly small sized ones used to make charms so maybe that is why they worked for me.

That said, hunk1der, many machines have a duplication feature in them - not sure what kind of machine you have to know if it will or won't do that. Also, there are a number of software applications that will do it too (I personally use Embird basic) and not sure if you have that or pe-design or any other software that will help with this. Worst case you should be able to adjust the center position of the design in your machine (and probably rotate to get it to go the way you want and make more fit) and sew one out then do the same thing again in another spot, etc. Not sure how big the design is or if it will cause issues (by duplicating) as the others describe below but you could try it once and see.

I believe no one has offered to do it for you yet because there can be license issues - even for a free design - to have someone who does not "own" the design to alter it (and this is kinda like altering it).

Good Luck.

I'm wondering, if we both had the same free FSL bookmark if that would be okay. I combine designs all the time and if you make sure you have enough vilene it works great. I also don't make them too close. PM me and we can compare and see if we both have the free design. I don't want to break rules, but if we don't break any, I'll be happy to save you some time. Do you have the link where you downloaded the free design. Come on, lady, share the link! LOL

I don't know what PM is or how to do it. It took me forever to find my post to read answers. I have a very old machine and I do not have software. I do not remember where I got the design as I have many from free sites. I only have what is referred to as a 4x4 hoop but it is a little bigger and a rectangle. I dot not want to edit the design just have more than one in a single file.

I just load one design file, move it to the left, load second, move it to right and if room add another to middle. I have never had a problem with getting out of line but do hoop very carefully and use doubled, good quality WSS. I have done as many as 12 designs in 5x7 hoop without difficulty.

Where is the bookmark from? I'll be glad to do it for you once I go get the design.

I don't think she is altering the design...sounds like she is just wanting to do several in one hooping...

I woould think that your machine has a built in program to allow you to move your design and add another. Janome has this feature...don't they all?
