One of my most dear friends, Peter, is fighting for his life and the outlook is not promising.

Peter and Nancy, husband and wife, have been my closest friends for nearly 30 years.

We have been tenpin bowling partners in many team tournaments and travel clubs and we now bowl together as a 3 person team in our longest running weekly bowling league.
We are always there for each other and they are one of the reasons going ‘home’ is so attractive as we always had regular fishing trips, bar-b-q’s and club nights together, before I moved down here to be with Ray.

Four weeks ago, Pete came down with a lung infection, which has progressively worsened, until two weeks ago he started sleeping all the time.

You all know how men are? “I’m all right, I don’t need a doctor!! Blah, Blah, Blah, just let me sleep.”

Nancy finally called an ambulance and had him taken to hospital where they discovered the reason he was sleeping so much was caused by too much carbon-dioxide in the blood, brought about by the inefficiency of his lungs and his shallow breathing. They rushed to put him on oxygen but yesterday no-one could wake him up, so they performed emergency surgery to insert a catheter and he had a severe allergic reaction to the anaesthetic.

He is now in intensive care and only taking in 50mm of oxygen per breath, instead of the normal 120mm, if they can’t reduce the carbon dioxide in his blood, the doctor said they won’t put him on life support, so ……….

Please Cuties, please, spare a minute and say a prayer for Pete, PLEASE.

What a horrific ordeal for them to go through. It seems we often hear of infections going suddenly and drastically downhill these days. Thoughts are with you all, along with hopes for the best outcome possible.
