I made two of Christie's lovely battenburg butterflies to make a lavender sachet. I reduced the design by 10% so that it would be a bit denser and keep the lavender in and found I could fit two in the hoop at once. I used a variegated thread. I would do it a bit bigger though, if I do it again, as I couldn't fit very much lavender in!

I you are worried about the lavender falling out - with it the larger size - just stitch it out on toile or organza - you will still have the lovely battenberg lace that will be what everyone is looking at any way. I too, wanted to try this - it is the 1st thing that came to mind when I saw it - but haven't had time - this is stunning and so happy to see it stitched out this way.

This lavender sachet is a very good idea, I love your colour, the variegated thread stitch out very well. it is always a discovery with variegated thread.
I love butterfly and I embroider a lot of them all those days
