to be able to restore it back to a known date in case of a total crash or need for a file restoration. it's called macrium reflect. It's free and there are upgrade versions you can pay for the full additions but the basic is free. I have used it and it works beautifully . You can set up as often as you want . It is easy you don't have to think about it and you can sleep better knowing your archives that you worked so hard downloading are safe. Suzanne
