I snapped this picture of our deck this morning (the blizzard in Michigan has ended). Our deck is almost full. Now, I need to get bundled up and start shoveling! Hehehehe.

Oh MY! How many feet did it come too? That is a lot of snow.
by dailylaundry 02 Feb 2011
I really don't know, Terre. We had a bunch anyway - probably got 2 more feet of it. Thank goodness, I didn't loose power!
by bethelb 02 Feb 2011
Wow ! Great picture . My brother in Butler Mo. got 18 inches .
by mariahail 03 Feb 2011
wow!!!!!!!that is so much snow!!!****will like to see something like that.I live in Houston and we are going to get a little snow tomorrow. The light company is turning the lighs on and off all day to save energy...they turned it off from 10 to 45 minutes, depending on the time of the day and the area.******

My DH is out of town right now - I know if I send him this picture - he will say to drop everything and start shoveling in case it is too heavy for the deck. I am having my coffee first!!

Laura, that is alot of snow - with your flooding and now this - you have been one busy woman. Take care of yourself. Bundle up, too! *4U

I know, Shirlene, between the flooding and the blizzard - it is almost comical! They have taken up most of my kitchen floor (on our main level) and the basement is dried out now - but, between the repair work, claims work and putting good things back and now shoveling - I think I deserve my coffee first!! hehehehe

Minnesota dodged the bullet on this storm, but we have had our share too this winter. My deck has looked like that all winter. I shovel a path to walk through and I'm waiting for spring to take care of the rest.

Some winter, this year, huh? I wish the sun would come out!!*
by queenofhearts 03 Feb 2011
The media is warning everyone that now is the time to buy flood insurance because flooding in the spring is a sure bet.
by dailylaundry 03 Feb 2011
Oh, great! Two of our pipes burst last week while we were away. I don't like anything having to do with floods!!! Stay warm and DRY!!!

Oh my!!! We did not get any snow this go around, but more bad weather tomorrow ( Thursday). We possibly could get ice. Atlanta shuts down with ice. Just sew and stitch all and stay warm. Hope you don't have to get out. Kay

Thanks Kay - but, I do need to get some of this snow off the deck, as it is heavy. Plus we'll probably get more today. My driveway has about 4 inches of ice under all the snow!! Ice is not fun!*

I'm just across the border in Windsor. We live on the shore of lake St Clair. Boy those winds were sure howling during the storm. We got dumped on too. Hubby was up bright and early with the snowblower. Too early, poor guy had to go back out later and clear drifting snow. Thank goodness that we didn't get ice though.

That's a lot of snow, we have a good bit and ice on top of it and now snow coming on top of the ice. Lots with no power, 2 aunts, 2 SIL and my parents! Parents have a gas fireplace so they are warm but melting snow to flush toilets since they have an electric well pump!

One year we were without power for 4 days on well water when I heard melting snow going down the downspout. I quickly figured out how to get a section apart and started catching the water to flush the toilets.
by dailylaundry 03 Feb 2011
Oh, I worried about loosing power - but, didn't thank goodness!!*

Reading and hearing about all the crazy weather in the world makes me almost feel guilty. Weather here in the Sacramento area is absolutely great right now. I feel sorry for all of you that have to deal with snow, floods, hurricanes and whatever else mother nature has to dish up. Praying for all of you to stay save.

Every area has it's "problems". I was in California once during a small earthquake and I did not like that one bit! I guess we do the best we can where ever we are!!

Take care shoveling the snow; it's quite vigorous work. We missed the blizzard this time, and I'm glad you still have power.

Did I know you lived in Michigan, Laura? I'm just north of you, about 90 miles in Manistee. We had our share yesterday, that's for sure....but were lucky, as we were on the northern edge of that storm. We work 3-4 days a week back in Ludington and for the first time in over 10 years, we wondered if we were going to get there to work...but we did, and I was happy about that! We clean for an independent living (seniors) complex...so getting the job done...and on time...is important to us and the residents!

I am happy you missed most of it. But, I know there are many times that you get much worse weather than us. They actually gave the kids at Michigan State University a snow day - first time in about 30 years or so. Our two youngest go there.

Hi Ladies....I'm a Michiganian too....West of Port Huron....small world....I got about 10+ inches...no work today...living on a dirt road has it's perks...LOL

Not on a dirt road - but, I cannot get out of my driveway. My son-in-law says he will plow tonight! - Stay warm!*
