Sarah, that is good news - I believe. I do hope that those in the area - stay in - I am sure they don't have the ability to be online - but when they can - they will let us know. We will be praying for them all. *4U

Mobile phones are still working and link to outside world is quite good...but they have been hit very hard...Hugs Sally

Wasn't as bad as predicted. Still a lot of structural damage, not as much flooding. Has lessened in intensity but will still drop a lot of rain yet.

I listened to the radio all night, last night as I was so worried for everyone. It was truly an amazing lesson in the strength we humans can find when we really need it.
It was talk-back radio ABC from Queensland, and the whole night people were phoning in while the hurricane was swirling around them outside their homes. Some even took their phones closer to windows so people could hear the noise of the storm.
Several said they knew their roof was gone and the only thing separating them from the storm was the ceiling.
One of the Local Government Councillors called from within his car where he and his extended family (people who had come to shelter with them) had all taken refuge after the whole of their roof was taken away, they were in three cars.
Now that is unbelievable, that the cars weren't picked up by the hurricane and that they got to the cars from the damaged house!!!! What courage!
Everyone who called in, was just so brave, even stoic. I was listening and crying for them, one lady was in tears because she was worried about her horse. Lots of others had brought their animals inside the house with them, including sheep and pigs.
It was the most inspiring night of my life and one I will never forget.

Oh, and even some people from Canada and England called the radio station to inquire about loved ones who were holidaying in Queensland.
