Aww Judy-that stinks-lucky for you tho, that it's only going to cost you $80-could be alot worse and at least you have your laptop-not totally cut off from internet. Hope the virus didn't mess up any of your files ~linda~

I took it back to where I bought it, from the Geek Squad, (Best Buy)because I had purchased the "Black Tie" Package, and because it was a virus, I am still paying $216.86 to have virus taken off. Hugs & Hopes, Judy

Oh man, that is a bummer! I am always afraid I will get one but my son has a virus scan on my PC so hopefully I will be fine. I got a laptop the week before Christmas and it is nice to check in with you girls while spending time with hubby but my downloads are all done from the PC. I have most backed up on CD but ones I got since Thanksgiving aren't backed up yet. Good luck, I know it isn't fun to pay $80 for repairs because there are evil people out there that have nothing better to do than hurt others!

Hi Judy, you have picked up this particular threat from a website.
There is a way to remove it and if you had contacted us before you took your pc to the shop, we could possibly have helped as there are several here who had this happen to them a few months ago.

I do hope your pc tech doesn't charge you too much to fix your pc.
Hugs n sympathy, Meganne

The price is better than buying a new computer, but 216.00 is 216. no matter how you look at it. Thanx. I will remember to ask if this ever happens again. My anti virus usually stops me from possible bad sites, but not this time. Hugs & Hopes, Judy

JUDY I AM SEW SORRY THAT YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS! I TOO USE MY LAPTOP FOR DL BUT MY PC IS ONLY FOR MY MACHINE. I AM AFRAID OF THIS VERY THING! IT IS LESS EXPENSIVE TO REMOVE A VIRUS THAN TO BUY A NEW EMBROIDERY MACHINE!GOOD LUCK!

Windows 7 isn't so bad after you get everything up & running. But the problem is getting everything to work with it. Hugs & Hopes, Judy

I am to have a son and a DH that know computers. They have a back up system that backs up every night.

I too had that virus. It cost me $164.00 to get it out. They restored everything . The day after that my credit card company called and said someone was trying to use it . With all this my husband had back surgery and now I have the shingles. I think I am snake bit.

I am so sad about your situation too! I cannot figure out why someone with brains enough to create a virus to ruin computers, isn't using their brains to make something of their life. Seems senseless to me. Hugs & Hopes, Judy

Dear Judy,

I hope you can get your 'puter back as soon as possible. I cannot understand the mentality of some people who cause these viruses. Like you say why don't they use their brain for good. Love and blessings Chris

Judy, what was indicating that your computer was infected? I've had my computer go through this where I could not do anything with my computer, including boot, without this routine taking over. It was a lovely piece of malware that looked like an anti-virus program saying my comp was infected, and would clean it if I paid $79.95. I had to boot in safe mode, and do a system-restore back to before I got attacked. Then I ran my REAL antivirus program and did a complete scan to removed whatever I had picked up.. Don in TX

I hope so too. I have them on an external hard drive, but it was connected when this hit, so I don't know if it was infected or not. Hope no. Thanx & Hugs, Judy
