Not knowing your pattern I would not know the perfect place for you. But most of the burp clothes that I did I put the design on one end, and normally this would have been held to the back so that the embroidery would not irritate the baby. I am sure that we will have another Cutie come along and explain better to you.

With 8 grandkids and the ninth one on the way next month I've made several of these. I like my designs on one end close to the bottom. The type you have you doesn't allow you to add much trimming so just put the design on one end and go for it. By putting it close to the end/bottom of one side then Mommy is able to utilize most of the burp/nappie cloth. Please be sure to share your project! Good luck

On one end would be best so the design would not touch the baby's face. I have also put designs at one corner. It is very nice also to use your sewing machine's decorative stitches to sew around the outside of the burp cloth using a matching thread color. I have seen rick rack, ribbon, binding and many other things as decorations.

The curve for neck might be useful but I always left them square. They are often used for many other things so don't expect them to always need the neck cutout. These cloths are probably some of the most useful things a mother can have for a new baby and will use them for a few years. They aren't just for newborns.

Be sure to use polyester thread. They are washed to death and also bleached. Polyester will hold up very nicely.

It is nice to have several for everyday use and a few special ones to use for church and other public outings.
