Has anyone ever stitched a design on bathroom rugs? The thin ones with the rubber backing. If you have how do you hoop or not hoop them? How do you set them up to stitch on?

I have. I don't hoop the rug, just lay it on top of the stabilizer. Make sure you're using the lowest speed on your machine.

Do you use a heavier wt. needle?

no, just a standar 14.

I haven't but I would either tack it down on the stabilizer or use adhesive spray, more likely tack it down with a baste stitch.

I have not done it but I've heard that you may have to shave some of the furry part off.

I have not stitched a bath rug with the rubber backing - I have however stitched on the bath rug that is like a thick terry on both sides - I did not hoop, but placed on the heavy tear away stabilizer and did a tack stitch. Too, slow your machine down.
