HERCULES, Calif. -- A low pressure system took aim at the Bay Area Thursday packing powerful storm cells filled with high winds, pounding hailstorms, thundershowers, intense downpours, snow and even the threat of a tornado, weather forecasters said.

Although the low pressure was fueled by cold air from the Gulf of Alaska, the National Weather Service issued a rare advisory predicting the potential for tornadic conditions inland during the afternoon hours.

When my daughter lived in KS, the tornado warnings were frequent, but she never experienced one while living there.
Yes, go to an inner, enclosed, windowless room. We have a tiny powder room which meets those requirements, but also have a hallway on the first floor, which is roomier.
Take paper and pen, so you can write a list of essentials to stock an emergency bag. BTW, lists are available on line of ways to stock such bags. They are handy to keep in the bedroom, in case of a late night emergency, also. If I were more organized, I'd have a backpack stocked and include my wallet, important documents, etc.
Good luck and try not to worry.

I suppose it's highly unlikely. I don't have a windowless inner room except a 2 foot shelved closet. haha. I guess we go with the bathtub with matresses over it. I think I'm over reacting. I'll check more news reports.

Hope it's all passed over you by now! The closet would be my choice! We do have an inner room, the bathroom, and even in Tenn. have had to go there a couple times. I am scared of tornados..at least you have a warning for a hurricane! We don't get much bad weather here, but have had a couple tornados and we also are on a fault, so get small earthquakes more often than people realize...but I never notice them, even if we do have a crack in the outside of the house from one! (I wasn't here when that happened) Thinking about you! Be safe!

Not passed yet, still going strong. Just got back from the bank (I had to go) and I go back out for carpool in 2 hours. Lots of wind and rain!

We had a 2.5 earthquake a few days ago and I didn't even realize it was one. I thought it was the house creaking from some wind until my daughter who was lying in bed said she thought it was an earthquake. I'm just so used to the little ones.
