I have just been reading a post where ballpoint needles have been mentioned. Can I use ordinary sewing machine ballpoint or are there special embroidery ballpoints? Thank you. Sarah.

They are the ordinary needles used for sewing on stretch or knits.
I always put a dab of nail polish on the top of the shaft of the new pack of ballpoints that I buy.This way I can easily see if I have left the ballpoint in the Emb/sewing machine. They tend to break if you use them to sew for other general sewing.

Sometimes, if seems as though we are mixing a magic brew..... this stabilizer, this fabric and add a special needle.

Embroidery needles have a larger eye for the thread to go through. They come in the same sizes that sewing needles do.And ballpoint and sharp. A topstitch needle also has a larger eye and deeper groove on the front. I've been reading more about people using them,also.
