and the next thing I knew I had fallen face first and smashed my glasses and twisted my back, but the worst part of it, I spilled my food all over the floor! (The dogs liked that tho!) I felt nauseous and weak and broke out in a cold sweat, scared the tar out of me. I had eated a piece of birthday cake earlier in the day so I checked my blood sugar, and of course it was way too high! I was home alone but managed to get to my bed and fell asleep. When I woke up a couple of hours later my daughter was there. She had no idea what had happened, she thought I was just taking a nap. I checked my blood sugar again and it was back in the normal range. She took what was left of my birthday cake over to my granddaughter's house so I couldn't eat any more! You would think at my age I'd be smart enough to watch my health more closely! I was luckly enough to have an erxtra pair of glasses so I can still see well enough to be on the computer and at the sewing machine! LOL I'll try to behave myself from now on!

Oh how awful. I'm glad you weren't hurt, when we said have a bang up time on your birthday this is not what we meant. Take better care of yourself, we expect to see you around here for many more birthdays to come!

I'm so sorry that you were hurt! Keeping blood sugar in check is often not easy, especially when you want to celerate you birthday with cake. I'm glag that you were not seriously hurt, but I'm sure that you are quite sore. Please take it easy so that you can recover as soon as possible. ...Barb

Sure wasn't a very nice way to celebrate your birthday. Thank goodness you weren't really hurt.
You'll definitely have to watch things so you don't have a repeat. Next time you could really get hurt!

OH MY GOODNESS! That's terrible. Dropped the cake! Just kidding. I hope you're ok. My brother had diabetes and it's not something to mess around with. It could have been worse. Was going to sleep the best thing to do? Guess your level came down and you are better. That isn't the way you're suppose to spend your birthday. It's so hard to watch everything you eat. Hard enough for a diet, let alone when you have to. You want to enjoy at least your birthday cake. So glad you were better after your rest.

OMG. This could be more serious than high sugar. You should see a Dr. I do not want to scare you but as a diabetic we are prone to 'silent heart attacks'. I am a diabetic and am sure it would take more than a piece of cake for me to end up on the floor. A check up would not hurt. Marg
