I don't have the talent to quilt, but made this blanket as a gift for my grand daughter. I used a woven fabric with squares in the design on one side. I embroidered various things that would have meaning for Emma (a smiling helicopter because daddy is a pilot, a baby Clemson tiger - mom and dad's alma mater, etc.)in some of the square's. I added batting and used gingham for the trim and for the opposite side, and placed some stitches between the designs from front to back to help hold it all in place. It's not a "real" quilt . . . but I'm still proud of it!!
