Hey ladies, I just discovered a gr8 way to use an old stich ripper and save time and your finger nails. Check picture. Pull out pins while you sew with the ripper like this and keep those pins in longer at those finicky spots! You can see it pull out the blue head of the pin with small red ball of ripper underneath.

I am using the stitch ripper as a hook to grab the ball of the head of the pins to pull out of the fabric where it is pinned.
Oh - so does it come out on the same side as the ripper or are you pushing it toward the fabric? I think I might have been able to figure it out - had I not been looking at that wonderful fabric detail - Hehehe!

Wonderful idea! I have sewn throuh a finger nail before so this gets my favorite flower...a yellow rose for sharing.

Hi Joanie, I always use the longer "lace" pins and always pin 'across' the fabric, that way the machine will sew straight over the pins without the need to remove them. But I do use my seam ripper for holding down bulky material, pleats and seams and for tuck-gathering as i sew. Even as a paid machinist (touch wood) in 52 years of sewing, i've never had an accident with a needle yet. I did say touch wood didn't i? LOL! cheers and a rose for sharing, Meganne

I usually do pin across, but when sewing 2 fabs that are folded and stitching really close to the edge, then I pin it this way.... Yes, touch wood for u. ty 4 *

Very clever idea, thanks for sharing, i normally hold the piece of material down with the pin and move it along as i sew to keep small pieces down.

Thanks for the tip, I always use my seam ripper to hold my fabric down while I am sewing so will have to try this since I already have my seam ripper in my hand. Flower for you and everyone.

What a smart idea! I also need to get some of the straight pins with the ball head, mine are ancient and tiny heads are hard to get a hold on.
