That is wonderful! It's great being retired but it seems everyone will have something for you to do. Try to teach yourself the word "No". When you do, let me know how you did it. :-) Enjoy!!!

You have that right! I have said NO already, I am not a built in babysitter or chauffeur! I am very busy & I hope that they will adjust otherwise they will hear it alot!
by ramona 07 Mar 2011
Good for you!!!! I am proud of you. I love having family more than anything but, like I say, I think they feel we retired for them. hehe

Well, all I have to say is GREAT. (Well, that's NOT ALL I have to say.) I read a few comments about catching up on projects ... that doesn't always happen. Usually you start new projects, and the pile gets bigger and bigger. I do agree with the "jammies till noon" comment, although I generally do get dressed by 8:30. You can even start NEW hobbies, like dehydrating veggies and trying new recipes. Anyway, have fun with your NEW LIFE!!

I get up each morning around 7:30/8:00, get dressed and do my makeup. Never know what the day has in store or if my hubby wants to hit the road some where and I want to be ready!

hope your experience is better than some people I know. They are bored, trying to live in a small space with each other and drink too much. Not my idea of what retirement ought to be!

I guess it's all how you look @ it! I'm not much of a drinker & my dh is still working & I don't live in a small space I am claustrophobic! I am happy! In a whole new way & my dh is very happy for me too & he encouraged me to do it even though I am about 15 years early!
by ramona 07 Mar 2011
I too retired early at 47 y/o. I have enjoyed every second of it! I do find that others seem to think you retired to do for them though. Anyway, my husband retired 4 yrs ago and we stay busy as beavers doing our thing and helping family.

Congratulations. Try not to get so involved with everything at first. Pick and choose or, you will be busier than when you were working. Retirement is wonderful and you will love it - if you take care of yourself.
