Tote bag for Danny...Exchange Student from Brazil

My sister and her family are hosting another Exchange Student from Brazil at thier home. She happens to be younger sister of another exchange student that they hosted a couple years ago. Danny is from Brazil. Her birthday is coming up soon. Last weekend we celebrated birthdays...and this is what I made for Danny. The green fabric has been in my pile for about a year...I love it...came from Walmart. The brown polka-dot fabric came from Goodwill....with an original .68 cent tag on it, from K-Mart! I wanted to incorporate the two prints, so I choose this cute flower design from Embroidery Library to use...and I think it worked! Danny was thrilled! She plans on using it to carry her school books. I was happy with the results...so another similar tote is planned for the near future.

Kim, this is lovely - I really like the polka-dot fabric on this - it really gives it charactor. Danny is lovely, too.

thanks Shirlene! I sure wish I had LOTS of that polka-dot...I have about 2 yds, so will use it very sparingly. It is a border print, so the dots are bigger on the bottem, then gradually get smaller. I tried to show that in the picture, how I used the larger inside to line the bag. It washed up like a dream! Like I said, I wish I had more....oh well, just glad I found what I did!

oh..and Danny...yes, she is a cute little girl! Go through my friends on FB..look for Iuly...that is her sister who was here a couple years ago. They both are very special girls to our family! They are such good eaters...they come here skinny and leave not-so-skinny-anymore! They really like Dairy Queen. Sometimes they go 2 times a day! Danny has not tried DQ yet, as it hasn't opened...but, when it does...watch out!
