No way! I hate ironing to the point of when I buy clothes they have to come out of the dryer to be hung up. Irons never touch my clothes! Even though I do love the way clothes look when they have been ironed! LOL! I don't know why I hate it! My mother in law irons everything and when I was little my grandmother ironed her sheets! Maybe if I get rich someday Haha! I will have someone else iron my sheets for me! Hehehe!.

P.S. I can't clean windows it plays up with my carpal tunnel syndrome of which I've already had 2 operations on both hands - years ago though and they need to be done again. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL! I can't vacuum either Trevor does that! Am I lucky or what?

I like ironing -especially when everything has dried outside on the washing line. I just hate trying to put everything away so it still looks ironed when we want to wear it!
BTW I've had two carpal tunnel operations as well!

I don't care for ironing - it might have something to do from childhood - when my Mother used to take in laundry and had me do the ironing for her - those irons were awful - we had a pop bottle with a shaker top on it - that I had to use to get the clothes damp enough to iron - I know that it isn't that hard these days - but I never will like it - so why bother?

OMGosh Shirlene-I remember my mom had one of those-she used a green Canada Dry Ginger Ale bottle with her shaker top-she's dampen the pcs. to be ironed-roll them up till she got to each pc. and I remember loving the smell of the freshly pressed and starched shirts-Niagara Spray Starch.
Personally, I don't mind ironing a bit-my board is always set up right next to my dryer,hang & fold things as soon as they come out of the dryer and press off whatever needs it-although, sometimes I wait till I have 10 or so pcs. to iron before I get to it.
I don't have the shaker bottle-use a spray bottle instead-but I do have the spray starch-just doesn't smell the same as it did as a kid though(course that was many moons ago lol)

My Mom used to sprinkle her ironing and place it in the refridgerator to keep them damp. I had not thought about that in years! By the time I was up and ironing I actually likes to iron and it got even easier as I got a steam iron. I still like to iron but I now have a garmet steamer and with all of the wonderful material things are made of now, it does not take alot of PRESSING or steaming. I no longer think of it as ironing until I get table linens or something of that nature. I had a steam generator for a few yrs when I was in the Craft Business but when it finally died, I did not think another one was worth the price. They are the answer to all the prayers of those that hate to iron!!!!! I wash, dry and hang up the clothes now and only press them as I need them. I have an iron and board in my walk-in closet off of my master bath and another one in the sewing room on the other end of the house. Since I find it very hard to get around, that only makes sense. I have a top of the line Rowenta in the walk-in and just an inexpensive Rowenta in the craft room but I would not iron without a Rowenta! They make everything so much easier!
Oh wow, you gals sure brought back memories! I remember my mom using a RC cola bottle with a cork and sprinkler cap and she'd always iron while American Bandstand was on in the late afternoon... My mother has been gone over 30 years now......gees, I'm old!

But.......... put a pile of freshly bought and washed fabric and I iron away as happy as can be, folded to perfection and in the neatest of piles.
I wash everything I can lay my hands on and then hope I can fold the things while they are warm from the sun or the drier, and I've found the body is a great ironer for crumpled t-shirts.
I hate housework!!!!

I'm with you there, I love ironing my newly receieved fabrics and orginizing them!
There we go, it is all housework! If we could keep it neat the one thing I don't mind it vacuuming but we aren't neat and I hate picking up everything first. My Dad once asked me if I just vacuum around things!

Yes..I like to iron..and I also use starch...I like my clothes to look neat exspecially my work clothes as I work with fresh food..nothing like waiting on a customer who sees you less then well groomed..leaves one to wonder how clean a person is preparing food..

I do not iron since 1999. I married a man that can outdo me on ironing so I let him do it all. Years ago before he became a doctor he worked in a dry cleaners and he can out do me folding or ironing.

I HATE ironing, when i look at these beautiful dresses and I see they need to be ironed, they are not so beautiful anymore. In my first year of marriage, 28 years ago, my DH always complained I did not know how to iron, and I always had the same response "You are right I do not know how to and I do not want to learn"Finally he gave up. I love sewing and you know we need to press seams I do not mind that, i think that is the only time my cloth is trully ironed.

Depends on what I'm ironing, lol! My newly aquired fabric, oh yes! Laundry... sometimes. I don't like cleaning refrigerators, lol! I'd rather clean my stove, lol! And like Alice I hate shopping, I go in with a list and stick to it. I HATE when they move things, so I ask where it is when they move something. I hate wasting time in a store. Unless of course its a JoAnns or other fabric store, lol!

People STILL iron??? LOL I try to buy only permanent press items and hang them quickly while they are warm from the dryer! If anything is still threatening me with a show of wrinkles, I give it a few blasts of hot steam from my steamer. End of that battle!! I hate housework, but manage enough of it, as the saying goes, "Clean enough to be healthy, dirty enough to be happy!!" I will always remember umpteen years ago, when our three girls were small, saying to my husband, "I'm sorry I am not a good housekeeper!" He said, so sweetly, "Oh, honey, yes, you are! The "house" is STILL here!"
Now, I am in heaven working diligently with my flowers, shrubs, and grass cutting in the spring and summer! My hubby says I resemble Mario Andretti, the racecar driver, when I am riding my green horse (a John Deere lawn tractor)! LOL

I am not a good housekeeper either, but I hate gardening also, don't like playing in the dirt, dirt under my fingernails, dusty hair, oh, hate it! But I do love looking at my lilies, in another month I have to take them up and separate them, too many have spread in one container!
Angel, it's a good thing you and I are probably in different countries, coz I have a 'little red tractor' -a Cox ride on mower! I bought it for my mum before she passed, so it's come back here to my regular houseblock on a hill. Have to watch I don't drive over the edge of any retaining walls, LOL.
I haven't lost a race yet with my "green Horse"! Now, a "little red horse" may get in the lineup, and give me competition!! LOL A HILL can be tricky; so be careful!

Love ironing. Like a soothing therapy. Also folding towels ! Oh I read about the people with the bottle to sprinkle ! Yes! My mom did that too ! Anyone else had the ironing in the fridge while growing up ! Kept the clothes from drying out between sprinkles ! Oh and I am real sick ! I used to love the clothes on the line ! The old fashion diapers were the best !

Well, I can't really say I "love" to iron, but I do it without complaining much. However, I do love the smell of freshly cleaned laundry, and it does give you a sense of accomplishment to see that huge pile of clean clothes when you are done. I remember helping my grandmother wash clothes in an old Maytag Ringer Washer and then hang them on the line to dry outside. They smelled so nice when we took the down. She also used a sprinkle bottle, and used "ironing water" in it that had a lavendar scent.
Have any of you used something like this? Do you have a recipe for making the ironing water solutions?

Ironing is one of those things that get easier as time goes by. No children clothes to iron. All of those frilly little dresses and the never ending white shirts for my son. Sometimes i actually do miss that. There are worse things in life like scrubbing the toilets and bathtubs. =0)

I don't like it much but my Mom loves to iron. She irons creases in my Dad's jeans and I know she used to iron his hankies for work and he worked in a steal factory! I even recall she ironed his boxer shorts!

I have alwalys hated ironing - and I too remember my mother sprinking the clothes and rolling them up and in the fridge before she ironed them. Funny what memories come up. I used to iron my sheets and pillow cases - way back when - surely not anymore. But, wait - DH does the laundry now. LOL

I can't say I like ironing but, my husband does. I learned early if his shirts didn't come out perfect then he would redo them. So you know what I did. Yep he just told me to give up. Luv him. Most of our clothes are permanent press. Today I use the iron to open seams for quilting. I do love the irons that shut themselves off though.

I'll iron but I can't say I actually like it since I'm usually ironing yards and yards of quilt fabric with copious amounts of steam.... meanwhile, I make sure my DH has permapress shirts! hee hee hee A woman needs to keep her priorities straight!

I am with you about ironing. I starched shirts and blouses and don't forget the doilies and pillowcases.To me the wash was just the beginning of the job. When everything was ironed and ready to be away then the job was done and that pile of ironing made me feel good. I am 83 years old and I still iron my clothes, I don't put them through the dryer, they are still hung outside where they smell so fresh when you take them off the line.I have an electric dryer but i still have lines in what used to be our garage and that is where I hang them in the winter. The furnace is out there so I have plenty of heat in the winter months. I think you young ones are kinda spoiled.You don't know what you are missing.

Laundry does not bother me one bit and really don't mind. My laundry is done every Sunday and my hubby laughs because before he gets up at 10am I have all 7 loads done.. LOL
