If you make a rag quilt with more than two layers of flannel - do you still put a layer of thin batting in between?

I think that I would because it would not be warm if you did not.

Yes you do. Just make sure you cut your batting 1" smaller than your flannel squares. This way it is easier to clip and you still get the same effect. Love to see your end results in projects. Good luck :)

Depends on how warm you want it to be. If its going to be used for a summer cover up when its a bit cool, than you might not add the batting. If you plan on using it in the winter you may want the batting or even double batting. Depends on where you live.

I live in Michigan- maybe removable batting would be an idea! The weather changes every hour!!! Thanks!!

i made mine with 5 layers so i never put a bat in it & it is HOT CAROLYN

no i bought a tool ment for that .There is many ways to sew this also you don't just half to sew straight lines :):)carolyn

Since you live in Michigan you may consider the batting. It's not a must though. Be sure to share your project. Would love to see it.
