Patti, be prepared as you'll get lots of answers on this one. I have always used rayon thread and it had to be robison anton. Well, there had been so much talk here at cute about the metro poly, everyone loves it. Sooo, I ordered on a Thurs. evening and rec'd it the following Monday! Is that service or what? Had to leave Tues. am for a biz trip to Little Rock and couldn't wait to get back to my thread. I absolutely love it! Working on a new project now with my new metro. Some say the rayon shrinks or fades, I can honestly say I never had that problem. It was time to try something different for me and I'm glad I did. Carol

I use only poly - prefer the sheen and it is "tougher" than rayon. I have some Floriani I got with my machine and otherwise I use metroemb.com. Heard about it here on cute and bought all 166 colors last year and have not looked back - LOVE IT. I also bought their pre-wound bobbins - they are great too.

In the eight years or so, that I have been machine embroidery, I read continuously about the preference to poly threads rather than rayon was because the rayon has a tendency to bleach/fade, when an item is washed. I have only used the poly threads and am very satisfied.

I haven't been doing this long and I got info from the ones here on cute. Took their advice and got poly. I had to get thread and that was before I was on this site. I did get a good deal on EBay. Now I am going to be ordering the metro threads. So many great comments about it.

some machines are a bit picky as to which brand thread they like. You might want to try a couple different brands to see which one works best for you. Your machine will let you know if it doesn't like a certain brand. lol Just make sure its a good quality thread or you will be spending a lot of time re-threading
