My first AND last one! A lot more work than I thought & I had never done a full quilt before! Whew! DID have it quilted on a long arm, however. I'd never have been able to quilt it! No hand work, all machine. My fingers are no longer able to do hand work. The "squares" are ALL out of the same material as the floral border. Still amazes me.

This looks lovely. Please why is it called a stack and whack quilt?

You stack up PERFECTLY aligned 6 pieces of fabric (size will depend on how large the repeat pattern is) and cut (whack) 6 triangles at a time. It's not that simple, but that's the idea. Then they will all be exactly alike, & you make that 6 sized "square" and continue from there.

will have to look into this and see if i can do it

Oh my! I had forgotten that! Thanks!
by hagridsmom 14 Aug 2011
please consider putting your full name - first, maiden and married names, your location-town and state, date finished and if it's for anyone their full name. This adds to the value of the quilt much more than "Grandma Mary"

BTW - the quilt is GORGEOUS!! So many blocks too - you are a determined quilter!

Gerry, this is beautiful....it is so unique and you did a fabulous job on it. Now that you have done this type you need to do the pinwheel type or triangle ones. That type is what I have made so many of....Congratulations on your first full quilt...
