I got a mess of heart pins at Joanns, they were really pretty but kinda big and clunky for quilts. Also they weren't very sharp for some reason but they were really cheap, maybe that's why $.99 for 100

Try pushing each pin in and out of a steel wool or copper or any kind of metallic (pot) scouring pad. Will be as sharp as a new pin. :-)))
