loaders, diggers etc. The men worked all night to drain the massive hole in our pavement.

I couldn't sleep as my best friend has been on my mind and we didn't get too much sleep anyway as the machinery worked all night! Poor neighbours!!!

Anyway I got up this morning at 5.45 and went out to chat to the guys and they were waiting on the sand and metal to arrive to infill the hole.

Since then we have had the lawn packed down and sand put on top. We had some water damage under our house but we've managed to get that all dried up. We had to call our son last night at 10.40 to come over and help. So there's Trevor and Ben under the house filling buckets with water and draining them on our back lawn - which by now was sodden.

The Water board man came under too and suggested putting a pump into the water drain pipe! I had thought the same thing. So he drilled a hole into the pipe and then put in the pump and away he went. Well, it worked so good Trevor has been out to Bunnings this morning and bought one. Just in case it ever happens again. I told him that the new pipe is the best its ever been and we have a new copper connection.

Anyway it's a glorious day here now and our front is all filled in. All I have to do now is plant some bulbs for Spring!

Love and blessings Chris

1. This was taken this morning at 7.00am after the hole had been partially filled in. You can't see it but all the flowers, bulbs etc. that were in front of the cream fence have been washed away - gone!!!! Four sections of pavement had to be removed. That hole was over 6 feet deep - so they had to drain it of water which took ages and then put loads of sand and metal in there.
2. View looking down to our driveway (Bella is having a sniff!) The guys have been fantastic.

My goodness Chris what a mess and what a night - I hope that you get some rest tonight and I will be praying for your friend, too.

At least it's all cleaned up now and hopefully in the next few days we will have a concrete footpath. Love Chris

P.S. thanks for the prayers she needs them.

My DH always says, Why do these things always happen at night time? The pictures show they didn't leave too much of a mess. Just getting the ground around your house dried out must have been a big concern. You might be able to see your bulbs growing in your neighbors yard next year. lol

You are exactly right! The council men were wonderful, left it really clean and neat. The areas at the back of the house are still a bit damp, but the weather has been beautiful today and will dry out soon. Love Chris

Never a dull moment..... sounds like you have it under control. I often wonder what I would do with out my husband, I'm pretty handy but I'm sure glad he's there to fix things. Yesterday we just had a leaking facet, but it was dripping a lot. I would have had to call a plummer. I wanted to just sew LOL and not think about the leak, fortunately he handle it Yeah!!

What an exciting night! Glad that you are drying out and hope that you stay tht way. All you have to do is plant some bulbs? No embroidery? Enjoy the glorious day. Sounds like a good day to spend a few minutes replacing the bulbs.
