well the irish are a funny/cute/charming nation,and know they can get away with a bit of cheek!!now we british folk ,don't say "kiss me I'm british" because we don't want our faces slapped!!! lol

Well I think tatties is from Scotland as in tatties and neeps and jam butties is Yorkshire, Lancashire upwards. Jam butties are made only at home not bought in a shop. Butties is another name for sandwiches

Queen of Hearts, I dont think you should tar everyone with the same brush, if I posted here that I didnt like American's because of my dealings with a few of them, it wouldnt go down very well, so please dont go about saying we are an "arrogant lot" . Maybe the ones you met were but be assured we are all not like that.

I think Capoodle is correct, Ive never really research the saying but from what Ive heard, its basically, kiss any irish person and you will get the gift of the gab, as you would if you kissed the blarney stone!!!
