Sorry to show my ignorance.......Lyn posted a query about stippling - what is stippling? I have a feeling that it is something to do with quilting?

your correct stippling is a form of quilting. To make it simple a stipple is a running crooked pattern that never crosses itself. It if crosses itself it is called 'free motion'. Hope this helps.....

Stippling is free motion quilting. It looks like a lot of wavy lines close together.
Some digitising software now have stippling as a fill stitch.
The first picture is stippling done as an embroidery design.
The second picture is free motion stippling on a wall quilt. I don't know if it will show up very well.

Thanks for asking Sarah, I had seen it on designs at different sites but didn't know why they used it. Now I know, quilting! *4U
