Ha! You can do what I do.... have a family member do it.
Almost every family has a computer geek. Mine is my son-in-law. He makes his living with computers and is kind enough to help me out whenever I need it..... or I would have to hire it done......

I was hoping you had been getting some good ideas from everyone, because I got a new laptop but haven't had much time to explore it yet. Its tough because I'll have to learn a new operation system. My suggestion to both of us, is take is slowly, cautious, & just have fun with it! Tammy

Don't try and do it all in one go!

Actually, if you still have your old pc make a list of all the programs you actually do use.

Then, make a list of other things you store on your computer or any special settings you have.

Screensaver, wallpaper, special Icons, games (if any) photo's etc.
Print out your Address book, copy your favourites list and bookmarks onto a USB stick, (unless you have a direct link to your old pc) or you may do what I do, I install the drive from the old pc into the new one and move everything over (not programs of course) but everything else that I use.

Hope this helps, it's a sh*$ of a job, I hate doing it and I get roped in every time someone wants help with their computer.

I just pay somebody to come and do it as I get very frustrated when I do it myself and it does not work in one go. This way I can put the blame on somebody else if it does not work!

I know exactly how you feel...it was kind of scary for me to begin. Just go slowly and hopefully everything will fall in place. When I bought my new laptop I also purchased the "qeek squad" packet but never really had to call them. Good luck!

Almost all new computers come with a "Quick Set Up" instruction sheet. Just follow the instructions. Also, if it is a new computer, you can call for tech support and they can assist you over the phone.
