I just sent you an email about this Carolyn,

_____________________________________________________

"Hi Carolyn, I'm assuming you did not send this email or the message would be more personal. So I think it is a wise bet to assume your hotmail email has been hijacked and you should contact hotmail immediately and forward this whole email to them so they can track it.

I have kept my copy if they ask you for the original I can forward it to them.

Hugs and blessings, and good luck. ""

So this is what you need to do.

Also, I would go and join Yahoo and get yourself a Yahoo email account, then notify ONLY your friends what your new yahoo email is.
Hugs and blessings, Meganne

I would say your e-mail has been hijacked - they have gotten my dad's twice - sent a message to everyone in his address book trying to sell them different things. I would notify your e-mail provider.

Send an e-mail to all your contacts explaining this is not from you and to delete the e-mail. Also contact yahoo with the information. Next change your password. I know this next part may be a lot of work, but change your e-mail address, as they will hack you again, its happened to me twice because I thought changing my password would be enough, It wasn't. Once you have your new e-mail up and running send out 1 final e-mail to your contacts letting them know you will be closing the account that was hacked into and give them your new account. It's also a great way to get rid of old e-mails and contacts you no longer have as friends or whatever. :) You just don't let them know, hehe!

I have been getting emails that show they are from people I know but they only have a link to click on and I never click on links I am not sure about. All the people who's emails have been hijacked are being done through facebook.

Debra that's why I'm not on facebook or twitter (but it would be good for my business :o(
My daughter was wondering why I have different names on the different sites (ansalu her, another name at ebay, one more for Google etc.). I once read that you should not use the same name for all your log-ins cause it is so easy tracking your path through the web with that name...
Greetings, Bettina

It's called phishing. The people that you know really know nothing about these emails. Hacker got into their account and is using their address book. Then deleting the copy of the sent message. YOU need to forward a copy to them and tell them that they need to go into their mail program and simply change their password. Won't happen again. Do not hit reply, it will not go to the person you want it too. Hit forward.

Are you in a yahoo-group? One of the group-members from Hexenstich (german group of embird-users) had the same problem; people get mails that she is in trouble in another country and will need help.
She changed her mail-ID and the passwords.
One member said that it maybe comes from the adressbook in OUTLOOK. If you leave the adressbook empty than a virus cannot send mails.
I have an iMAc so I vannot say if this solves the problem...
Greetings, Bettina

Call your subscriber of your internet and tell them what is going on and they will show you how to block these types of e-mail. I had this happen to me and now I don't get spam at all.<br />Hope everything works out okay for you. Spam is such a pain!

This such a nuisance, but it is happening more and more. You need to change your email password on your email account. Then send an email to everyone informing them that you have had your email hacked, (that is what has happened). Make your password really tricky so people are unlikely to figure it out, and contact your email provider to let them know what has happened. I had this happen on my website when i took the security code off so that it would not annoy my customers, the nest thing I knew someone was sending emails through the tell a friend feature on my website advertising all sorts of gross things. It is very frustrating because now everyone has to struggle with the annoying security code to sign up for the website. Some People make life hard for everyone.
I think it is a good idea for all cuties to let everyone know that this is a very common story. lots of people I know are getting these emails that appear to be from friends in other countries who are in need of money. I think the best thing to do is try and make everyone aware that this is happening.

Hi Carolyn, i got one and just deleted it. I know you're not in another country. Don't worry, someone will help you. Don't be sad. I have heard of this happening before. Scammers looking for money.
