My dad, who is 84, is having double by-pass heart surgery in just a few hours. The surgeon said just one artery is clogged and the rest of his heart is "pristine" which is really good news. He is strong for his age and walks every day, so everything looks good. I'm just pretty much of a wreck though. I'm worried not just about Dad, but also for my Mom who is also 84, and not so healthy. Everyone lives back there in Indiana, except me, so they will have lots of people around to help. It's always hard living far away. I'd just really appreciate your prayers. Thanks! I've been keeping my guardian angel really busy these days! Jan

Dear Jan,

I'll certainly keep your Mum,Dad and you in my daily devotions. At least they have family around them in Indiana, but I know how you feel. I was away from my parents for 30 years and now have Mum living up here in Newcastle. I've asked for the doctors hands to be guided by our great healer and also that your Mum will improve. Love and blessings Chris

I am so sorry to hear this. I am sure that your Dad will be fine, although it does take some time to get over this sort of thing. My DH (although much younger) had a quadruple by-pass, a new valve and a pacemaker 18 months ago and he is as good as new. You are in my thoughts at this time. Hope Ben is well. Love Sarah.

Dad had his surgery and the surgeon said it was PERFECT. He said Dad was joking as he went under and asked the anesthesiologist if the gas was gluten-free. Mom is doing okay, but worried about Dad. There must have been twenty people there with her in the waiting room, and Alan, our family friend and pastor was there to lead in prayer. My dad has this really outgoing personality and makes friends wherever he goes. He talks to EVERYONE - no kidding -everyone. I'm a lot more like him that way, than my mom who tends to be more quiet and reserved. They laugh a lot, which is supposed to be good for healing. Dad and I have this website we are doing together for his WWII Army division. It's quite a challenge doing it because of he communicates to me his ideas and then I put them into the technology. (That's where I got the hightechgrammy.) He calls the computer "those guys," so you can kind of get an idea of the communication. He is quite a character and everyone loves him. He also does beautiful Calligraphy. IF you get a few minutes, check it out at the link below. Thank you all so much for keeping us all in your prayers. Love and hugs, Jan

Dad is progressing well. He is really sore and can't understand why he is stiff and sore. He was up and sitting in a chair. The hospital had to finally limit his number of visitors! It was getting a bit ridiculous, I guess. My Mom is not realizing how tired she is. She has cervical dystonia (sp?) and has a bobble head. She had a botox injection in her neck in november and she still can't lift her chin up. So, everyone is trying to make sure she gets rest and that she eats. I think I'm going to make a little throw for Dad with everyone's name on it, to help his recovery. Thank you for all your prayers. I know they are helping me not to worry so much.
hugs, Jan

Jan, I'm so happy that your Father came though his surgery without any problems. I'll remember him and your mother also, in prayer. It's hard to watch our parents getting older and sickness coming upon them. Prayers for you too. Hugs, Judy
