I have a Designer SE..not real sure about yours but I can use any format other than ART. Give it a try and see if it comes up for you.

I have a Designer 1 and I use all but ART also. Give it a try and let us know. But you should be able to use all of them.
vip hus vp3 is what I use mostly but pes sew xxx seem to work okay too.

Yes, you should be able to do that. As I understand, VIP is the newest format version for Viking. It is suppose to support a better color listing.
