Just a reminder as I know a lot of folks on here are Grandparents ,So a little heads up Beware of a call from a Grand child who claims to be in some sort of trouble and needs imidiate cash to get home. Most of these claim to be from Canada. We got one yesterday asking for 3000 dollars. Just ask the so called Grand child a question that only they would know and the caller will hang up. Seems to me the more folks are aware of this and are prepared. we will have less takers.

This is no joke and all too true. It happened to friends of mine who are in their 70s. They were taken for over $2ooo.

Family passwords are a great thing. It helps all involved. We have to help protect our families.

We had a family passwork.... the funny thing about it was all four children could tell me what is was, but my DH could never remember it!!
maybe you should have him pick it. lol
I was more worried that 4 little kids wouldn't remember never thinking my DH wouldn't!!

I would ask for a number I can reach them at then call their parents and ask about it. Usually they won't give a number. Also passwords and general faimly knowledge questions usually get them hanging up. If they don't know nick names for themseleves, family memners or a family pet, you hang up on them. I have nieces over seas so I would be checking with the parents first who would then give them a call to make sure everything is fine and let me know if help is indeed needed. Its too bad their are such greedy, and wicked people out to hurt others in this world!

My youngest daughter & I had a Password, which saved her from being taken from 1 st grade years ago. Because the person who tried to take her out of school did not know the password. I was soooo relieved. Thanx for the info. Hugs, Judy

My sister and her husband got scammed like this. Too bad they did not know about this before it happened. They would not say how much because they were ashamed but I am sure it was a pretty penny, Money they did not have. So sad. Take the time and call the child / grandchild to make sure they are ok and their is a real problem. Never send money to people you do not know. If they do get in trouble the police will contact you.

This junk is known in Germany too, we created a family password when my son started Kindergarden.
My Granny is 91 and all her GC inform her on what mess is going on so she can be saver, but no fear there she is a clever person and definitly still knows her way round.
