a huge sale on designs or on a tutorial I had had my eye on. Has this ever happened to you? Am I the only one?

I agree. I am always way over my budget. Donot have time enough either to embroider all the designs I have got.
Must be 100 and more years to do all things I like.

I am way over my "budget" for YEARS! LOL I think I have invested enough in Julias Needle Designs and Embroidery Library, I should be a "shareholder" in their business!! I need to quit buying and collecting designs, and spend more time stitching! Have made myself a promise to do THAT!! Now, let's see if I can keep it!! LOL

I usally don't buy many designs. Usally find what I need free. Now thread and fabric...that's another story. Have you picked up all the free sets at bunnycup?

Oh yes, been there. I can't stay away from embroidery library, they have so many wonderful sales and then the vip thing, oh my gosh! I know I'm addicted. Had another thread order to send in but now need to hold off, too many other expenses popping up this month! But than, hubby says, well, if you want it go ahead and get it! Soooo, how can I refuse? Love it. Carol

I have bought way to many also. My goal is to get them organized and printed and backed up. Have you ever spent several hours working on a design or an idea, only to forget it what it was. Well, a couple of years ago I made a folder titled "ready to machine" and I save a copy of my working ideas there. It is a life saver. Sometimes they stay there so long that I forgot where they came from, but it sure helps me find them. Kay

No you are not alone. My budget is just in the back of my head. My husband had a look at our finances over the weekend, when he told me what I had spend last month I was very defensive and said it was because I've made use of the happy hour at Emb a bit more than planned or normal. I was shocked when he showed me that is what I had spend the last few months every month. He at least only laughed but it sure had put a lid on my wanting to spend I did not realise that it became so big and what is more shocking that I haven't even sewn out most of what I bought.

Oh, you sound like me!! But, I do the bill payment in our house cause my DH is too busy to do it. So, I may not get "caught", hehehehe - and that makes me feel kinda sneaky!! *4U
by eleen 11 Apr 2011
Unfortunately I've handed over to him a year ago. My real job is financial and doing it all the time became a bit much. At least I now have a bigger monthly budget but why do I feel so guilty - Same thin as you feeling sneaky isn't it. He just said that it is fine I should enjoy especially since I don't spend on other things.

Try this. Make a list and number it 1-10. Tell yourself you must do at least 10 projects with designs you already have before you allow yourself to buy just one more. Sometimes we have so many designs we loose track of what we do have. No you're not the only one.

This is a wonderful idea. Now if I could just make myself do it!! Hehehe, I am beginning to think that I have lost all self discipline!!! *4U

Too funny. I actually did something very similar to this yesterday. My list went into 2 pages.
Just this morning, I ordered from 2 more "new to me" sites.
Not sure where the list went.....

Oh, Shirlene - I had been so good for a long time - then there was sale after sale on things I had promised I wouldn't get at full price. No more - I am design dieting until May! What do kids say, "My bad"! A flower for you, friend!*

I am usually in the same situation with you but this past month I put myself on restricted purchasing because my husband is employed by the US Fed Govt and until we got up Saturday morning we didn't know if he would have a paycheck coming. I look back at some of the designs I bought and know I had some idea what to do with them but now I don't remember. It is not like a piece of fabric or a pattern on which I can write a note. I have folders for grandkids, family, friends etc but if I don't sort immediately then I forget what I thought was the perfect project. Then the time--not enough hours in the day to sew, embroidery, sort, read my favorite forum (bet you can't guess which one that is--hehe) and then occassionally clean (ugh) the house. I try not to do the last one very often. It cuts into the time I can spend doing the things I really enjoy. Becky

Becky, you are funny!! I should make myself busy cleaning the house! That would keep me from seeing other designs I wish I had! *4U (did you notice, I said "should")!!

Since my hubby is on disability and I collect SS buying designs is not so much a problem....I do have a weekness for Emblibrary designs but I try to only buy when they are #1.50 or less and I got a membership to amazingembroiderydesigns for Christmas...now I'm trying to stop downloading so many freebies, I'm so far behind on converting and filing....my goal is to get everything filed but that will take months....Best wishes on your budget...Janet

Oh, Janet, I love Emblibrary designs too. But, I try not to pay for anything over $1.00. I always look at their Stitchers Showcase for possible sales that I like and hord my gift certificates and use them with their sales. They are very accommodating! I have a memebership to our sister site, AmazingEmb too. I really love Ms Versonika's designs!!! Thanks!! *4U

I went on a design diet once... and that only lasted a short while. What got me to diet was the purchase of a new machine. Sticker shock had me hiding in corners and jumping at both real and imagined things.
I have since recovered and am again hitting my stride, thanks in part to all the good suggestions here at Cute.
The only thing that slows me down is when I take the time to go through the designs I already have, move some onto usb flashdrives and get busy.... it seems I always find something "new" in the designs I already have.
Good luck. Embroidery Library is not helping lately.... great designs and wonderful sales.

Oh, I know about Emblibrary!!! Don't remind me. I make use of their wish list and try only to buy when I can get the design for about a dollar. They just have too many great designs and sales!!* *4U

That pay-pal stuff is just too easy-I always tell myself to use the designs I already have, but what fun is that?!!!!!

Hehehe, I think Pay-pal is way to easy to use and perhaps that is part of my problem! I just need to have better self control for the rest of the month!! *4U
