This afternoon I was stitching my effort for the April Challenge. I had combined two designs in the hoop (flipping, resizing, changing hoop size etc) and was about three quarters through the embroidery. I turned my back for a moment. I heard a clunk and when I turned round I saw that my machine was dark and the thread stand flat on the table. The thread had snagged, pulled the stand over and it scored a direct hit on the power button!
I had to go through all the process of combining the design and positioning it. After about three attempts, I managed to get the design just about in the right place and got it finished. Phew.
It would have been so easy if I were using one design and hadn't moved it from the centre of the hoop.
That will teach me not to try and be clever!

Can you see on the machine how much you move a design - I can on my Designer1, but not on my 4-needle - I have learned the hard way to note down the moves I make for all designs. I don't combine on the machine, do that in my software, but I do move out of centre.
My 4-needle automatically stores the last design, so that's a big help.

I can see how much I've moved it but I didn't write it down! When moving a design, each click is a millimetre so that is useful for repositioning.

Whenever I send a design to my machine and have it all sent up ready to stitch I then save the design on my machine. That way, if I have power failure or my thread stand falls over on the power switch, I can go back to the same spot. The design saves in the same file each time. It just overrides the previously saved design. That way I don't load up my machine memory with alot of designs. Maybe your machine doesn't allow that process but, if it does, be sure to "SAVE". Can't wait to see your design finished.

Oh wow, I never thought of that, I'll probably never use it but glad to know about it in case I feel the need to!
They should put that into a manual or something. I never thought of that. cj

Sue, did you hit the machine with your chair or arm when you turned? i did this a couple of times before i realized what actually happened. i pushed my machine back on my table to clear the turn of the chair (and arms of chair) and it has never happened since. good luck. betty

It was definitely the thread stand that hit the switch - it is near the back of the machine so I couldn't have done it.

So sorry you had so much trouble - can't wait to see the finished project.
Luckily - my machine - when stopped like that - will put it right back to the same place it stopped - when I turn the power back on.

WOW!! Good save Sue- and I bet you just looked at it,smiled and said "that's okay- piece of cake- no problem" LOL NOT!!! I am glad to hear you were able to get it back in place and finish the project.
Last night when I was doing one of the potholder stitch-out- my bobbin ran out while I had gone upstairs to get a cup of coffee-the design was done so it went back to -0- on the stitch counter. It was something like 13,000 stitches in the design-I had no clue where I had to pick it up to finish the design-so I just held my finger on the stitch forward button-turned out it was about 1400 stitches shy of finishing. GRRRR. I did complete it tho-Life's little lessons huh?
Do we get to see the design or is it somebody's surprize? ~linda~

After the edit design is on the emb machine (even when I hop to the center) I have a pocket to save the design in. I always do this and it saves many a hassel.The pockets can be used and over-written often.
Does your machine have a function to do this also?

Sometimes a simple project can become so frustrating. You must have held your breath until you got back to the missing section. Out of curiosity after the challenge is done most of the posts were asking to see your finished design if possible.

Can't you save your design to your machine as well as uploading it?
All my embroidery machines have an auto save feature or I can tell it to save manually, then if the power goes out it will bring the design back exactly, when I power up next time.

All I can say is Why do we do these woderful things and not save them befor we proceed sure is one thing I tell all my girls if you change alter or modify SAVE IT OR LOOSE IT sorry darl had to say it Hugs Shazells

Haven't we all learned by now to NEVER turn our backs on our machines? They know when we aren't looking, just like the 2 year old who waits for Mom to look away before he darts off in all directions, lol! Glad you managed to get it set back up to finish, I would have just cried and threw up my hands in disgust. Hopped over to projects and looked at it, wow what a nice job you did!

Oh sue it happens to the best of us. that is one reason I do not leave the rm when I am embroidering. Too many times something like this will happen to me, & you are right it is extremely hard to get everything back exactly like it was./Lillian

Dear sue, I make always all this work of combining, resizing, changing the hoop on my computer, with my software4D studio.All this work is downloaded on a file, and I have just to rransfer to my machine, with a floppy disk or a key USB.I think that your software can do that also, and it is more securising.

I don't have any software like that and I can't work out how to save the design on the machine. I think I will start saving up!

Hi Sue , if you have no software. Once you have placed all the designs onto Your machine like you want it. Is there not a envelope box picture any where on your screen, If so press this and then it will ask you what name you want to save it as. if your machine does go off, it is saved direct onto you machine.
