Could somebody please supply the right vocabulary? I need to line a basket with a handle at the top and have to do something like a hole in the place where the handel is on both sides. I do not know what that kind of "alley" is called and how to search for an answer. I do know how to sew the lining. It is like a "fabric" buttonhole, with fabic on both sides looking nice, but with one short side open. Anybody out there who understands what I am looging for?
TIA regards Sue

This is a picture of my bread basket. Took a picture of the inside and outside for you to have a visual idea. While this don't have a handle the hinge on the lid is similar to leaving an opening for a handle. Clip on each side of the handle and turn that piece under and top stitch or fuse down.

Great pictures.
Very nice.
exacly!!! You know what I mean. Thank you very much for the pics - you have a beautifull bread basket. Now, how do you call such an opening? And would it be called the same name if it was on a shirt?
