I found that there are certain times of the day where this site gets very slow or the "timeout" happens. I found the best time to get on is in the evening. USA Californa time. Purchasing a subscription is absolutely worth it just alone for the fact if you are collecting alphabets and one day the site is too busy for you to get on, all of them are still available the next day. Go for it and find the time of the day, that is best for you. WELCOME TO CUTE. Angie

I only get Gateway Timeouts when I'm on during 'peak' hours which would differ, acording to the area in which you live.
Determine when it's happening, and adjust your time to sign on. Perhaps try before & after work. For east coast USA, early morning seems a good time.
True, some days the site is slower than others, but it has not been a huge inconvenience for me.

The subsctiption is well worth it - when you think of the designs that you are able to download - the time that you are coming to the site - my be the trouble - however, if you are coming to pick up a freebie and can't get online - you could miss it - if you have a subscription - any time you can log on - you should/will be able to download. Have you tried to come into the site - on IE or just through your internet connection?

My guess is its a server overload due to software, bandwith,etc issues that needs upgrading due to increase usage by all cuties because it is a great place to come to with wonderful people willing to help, listen, encourage, and donate designs.
So I would say even tho annoying to get gateway timeouts at peak times its still worth being here!
PS In general evenings and nites are best for heavy downloads at any site for me PTime

Hi Dragonflyer - I like your name! I get that message sometimes, but not too often. Cuties is worth the effort. You don't have to buy a subscription if you don't want to, you can actually be a Cutie by just hanging out here. But, you must be warned - IT is ADDICTIVE! It's the best site on the internet, IF you like machine embroidery and great friends who will just accept you as you are and answer any of your questions and offer you help on not just sewing and embroidery but just about any of life's questions! I have two subscriptions to two of the Cutie sites: Cuteembrodery and amazingembroidery because they are each such a bargain for great designs.
