I have so many bobbins with tread and wanted to use the thread to empty the bobbins. What better was than to make these buttons found here on Cute.

They are great when you want to stitch something that doesn't take a lot of time.

Are they actually stiff enough to use like regular buttons or just decorative?

Think they would really be used where it would look like buttons should be used. The smaller ones are stiff enough. The square ones are the largest and the smallest that my machine will do. They are just ideal for the kitchen towels that I make plus I can do them in the same colours as the patterns on my towel tops.
