I did this on a T-shirt for myself. The bee is actually embroidered on felt and cut out. Then I appliqued it on to the shirt and embroidered the word SWEET under it. This way I didn't run so much risk of messing up the shirt in case it didn't stitch out properly. It launders up great too, just in case you want to give this method a try.
