You can use the thread, but remember that the thread is different wt than the 40 Wt we normally use. And yes, you do need to use the same thread in the bobbin. 30 WT will be heavier than the 40 wtembroidery thread. When doing lace, you should always use the same thread in the bobbin as you do the upper thread. Good luck and waitng to see this posted.

I think I would enlarge the design by 10% to allow for the thicker thread. That's what I usually do and it seems to work out fine. When I am doing FSL angels or ornaments I use regular bobbin thread that matches my top thread. I would test out a small design using the different combinations of top and bobbin thread and see which you prefer. If I am doing a normal weight thread design I do match the top and bobbin threads. I love the Superior brand bottom thread. They have lace white and regular white as I recall.

I would use the size 14 needle for this - it doesn't create as much fuzz as the smaller size needle might. I use the same thread in the top and bobbin on all my FSL work.

I did this Floral Lace Doily with cotton thread and did change a thing with the design - just the needle size.
