What stabilizer do you use when doing redwork? Is it enough to just use a thin iron on??? Is it best on a quilt with top bottom and batting?? Just wondering for the future

Any kind that will dissolve in a mist of water or disappear when pressed with a warm iron will also do nicely.

Depends on whether you are going to be seeing both sides of it. If on a towel, I'd just use some water soluble. For a quilt, the tear away should be enough. I have made rag quilts, embroidering the pattern through 2 layers of flannel and thin batting with no problem.

I always worry that the tear away will pull at the stitches... thats why I wondered if just iron on is enough
