I'm not sure what kind of bags you are referring to but I bought some bags from the dollar store too. I opened the bag and cut off the side seams. Then I added my embroidery. While it was still open I added lining and then resewed the seams. You would not have to add the lining as I did.

If yours doesn't fit in the frame - I would open it up and do the embroidery and then stitch it back closed.

I tryed emb. one design on cotton then i was going to do fancy stitch to the edge to sew it to the bag,so i wouldn't half to open the bag???Well it is to wrinley:(:(

My bags are canvas/duck type of material. I haven't
tried to do anything yet. I am washing dish towels I
got at WalMart yesterday. I liked the look of them.

Thats i think what i bought to but to me it looks and smells like a potato bag lol .I just ripped out the seem in one to try emb. on it thanks carolyn

My bags are like canvas. I take the side seam out and work on it then I have not been to the Dollar Tree for a while, so don't know what they have. But, I bet you can make something nice with them.

The bags I got were a canvas with bright colored straps, I put bech scenes on them, then while in dollar tree I got sunglasses and a pair of flip flops and the at walmart got a towel to matchand put gd's name the towel and it made a nice beach bag
