cut bottom, to hoop and stitch.Our design has 4000 sts and I also added the rick rack trim (how do you like the trim?) So how do you figure what to charge? I would like tomake some money but don't want to OVERcharge. The bag measures about 6x9, just big enough for cell, keys, drivers license,etc. to take to beach, casino, shopping, etc. Is there some sort of price guide?

GOOD QUESTION, I was always instructed that it was cost of materials x2, not sure if this helps or not.Doesn't really count time?

I wonder how you figure the thread cost?
We figured out the cost of thread for the shop as newbies always blanched at the idea of wasting the thread between the spool and the needle when changing colors. I think we determined that 12" was a good amount to call the throw away piece and then figured out how much that would be. Cheaper than having to drag your machine in for thread stuck in the tension disc area or worse.
There are some programs that will tell you the amount of thread used per color in the design. Buzz tools? not sure about that.

I charge $1.00 per thousand stitches then 1 1/2 times cost of material. Used to X'S 2 cost of material but with the economy and sales slowing I changed to 1 1/2. really sort of depends on your area too. I live in a prety depressed area but sales are good so far. Hope this helps you out. plus posts from others may give you a guide line. Good Luck

My daughter, at one time worked for someone at an emb bussiness, and she said they charged a $5 set up fee and $1 per 1,000 sts. I have a hard time charging ANYTHING so I hate for someone to ask because I am never sure about the pricing.
I, too, have a hard time charging, so tend to collect in teatowels or towels. Something for me to add to my stock to embroider on. Less embarrassing as they can then decide how much to spend on blanks.

toogie, I determined that I would charge $8-12 an hooping (just for the embroidery) - without the price of the garment.
