A LOLLY IS A SWEET OR SOME CANDY AS AMERICANS SAY, BUT IN AUSTRALIA WE CALL THEM LOLLIES OR ONE IS A LOLLY.

If it's not a design you made yourself you can't share it; freebie or bought, it would be illegal in both cases. But you can give the link to the site you got it from.

Sorry, free doesn't mean you can share. Check the rules from the sites you download from.

1. check the catalog of designs put out by cuties.
http://answers.cuteembroidery.com/6673453/CATALOG-DESIGNS-CUTIES-DBC-area-this.html

2. Check www.search4designs.com. They have a small number of free searches allowed per day I believe.

3. download a free converter program that will alllow you to convert whatever format the design is in to your desired format. This will allow you a broader search base. (Except ART - some of the older designs may convert but not the newer ones. Bernina has a locked system and doesn't allow conversion.) Wilcom is one I believe and you should be able to get names of others fairly easily with a little google search.

4. another source of free designs is http://www.Sewforum.com. As with this site (Cuties) it is considered polite to thank the digitizer.

As with any design - test it first on the same or very similar cloth. Save your self some ugly surprises that way. You may decide to change a shade of thread or your stabilizing, etc.

Technically even a freebie is not for sharing. You can give the person the link or name of the site where it was located and they need to DL it for themselves. Many websites will have freebies so that you can determine if you like their style of digitizing. The freebies are usually a part of a set that they hope to sell as they have spent time and effort digitizng these and would like to earn money eventually.

Good luck!

Just to clarify the confusion about free designs. No you are not allowed to share them. The reason is that a digitizer will usually offer free designs so that you can sample her or his work and you can look at the rest of their work while you are on their site or wherever they may be selling them. It also give them the opportunity, if you opt in to their mailing list to send you news letters. If you randomly share the designs then you are not allowing the designers other work to be showcased and in fact the person you are sharing with may never know who the designer is. As you can appreciate this is not fair on the digitizer who has spent time creating and testing the designs. You should read the terms and conditions from all of the sites you are downloading from, free or not. If they don't have terms and conditions then I would be doubtful about the site. I hope that makes sense.
Alice.
