I embroidered shirts for my grandsons. I really like that they appreciate them. The scorpion was done in metallic ribbon thread and didn't come out well, but I put Tender Touch on the back and he loves it. (WSS wasn't washed all out for this picture either.)

I think they both turned out very nice and your grandsons will be proud to wear them. Tender Touch is wonderful to cover the back. I especially like to use it for baby onesies.
Although I have many times, I’m hesitant to embroidery on T-shirt/jersey knit fabrics. The material can easily pucker or distort. But you did a great job on these.
