the apartment block is poor - I sometimes think the clothes come out dirtier than when they go in). I still had one load of regular clothes to do and was putting in clean water and took something into the living room(waher is in kitchen up to the sink) and there was something interesting on the tv so was watching it for a few min. when there was a knock on the door. It was the building handyman wanting to know if I had a water leak - of course I said "I don't think so" only to discover water running over in the washer and all over the kitchen floor and was starting into the livingroom. He took off to get the shop vac and I was throwing towels and any of the clothes (that I'd already washed) on the floor to soak up the water. He worked on the carpet and I did the kitchen floor. As I have the small bissel shampooer - I pulled that out and started sucking up as much as I could. Our apart. is OK as I kept pulling water out of the carpet until I could hardly get anything more out and then we put the fan down to help dry it faster. The apt. below us has some damage (not sure how much yet), and we'll be getting a bill for this.

Things happen! We once had a leak when the pipe on the water purifier came off during the night because of fluctuation in the water pressure. Our kitchen cupboards was damaged as well as the carpets. Hope you don't get a bill from downstairs. Hugs.

Oh NO. Good thinking about the shampooer. Make sure that you put a dryer under the carpet. You don't want to deal with mildew in the future. Hope everything will work out OK.

We put a tower fan on and laid it down so the air went directly onto the carpet last night and it seems to be dry, but I'm leaving it on to make sure it's thoroughly dry underneath.

Wow! You did have an experience. What a shame.

Hope all is dried up soon and not much damage to the apart. below.

At first they didn't think there was much damage to the apt below, but the manager was here about an hour ago to let me know there was more damage than they thought and to contact my insurance to see how they wanted to handle it.
