I fail to understand people. We have many charity projects in SA where underprivalidged are taught to sew to earn an income.
There must be many such places world wide where these machines can be used.

Absolutely Elizabeth. It looks a great machine to me. Some charity would just love to have that.
I have donated many a machine I've been given to the local Thrift store that all porceeds go to help victums of domestic abuse. It makes a difference to not only the victums, but the store sells them for about $20.00 and someone who could normally not afford a machine has a nice sewing machine to enjoy.
I looked on line and saw this machine going for anywere of $100 to $200 why you would just throw it away amazes me. But at least this one was saved and I know someone will get to use it.

yes couldn't see it trashed, I don't need it I have my vikings and love them, my feet fit both of my machines so this to me is useless, I also have a couple of other machines as backups. I think we all do LOL
I have only had two sewing machines in my life. Both Bernina, 740 Favorit in a cabinet some nearly 40 years (Istill do all my straight sewing on it) and my Aurora 440 where I do my embroidery. I have vowed if I ever come into a lot of money one of the first things I will buy will be a top of the range embroidery machine - but in the meantime I'm happy with what I have. They do what I want

That was very thoughtful of you to take it to your quilting class. I had a machine I purchased in 1975 & got a cabinet for it at the same time. I used it up until last yr when I purchased my 2nd embroidery/sewing machine. I found my old machine a very good home with a friend that did not have a machine & wanted to start making her grandkids some quilts. It still sews beautifully & she was tickled pink that I wanted her to have it. It is a 1975 Signature from Montgomery Wards.

It's always nice to have something around when your regular machine is in the shop. I borrow my sister's.

That's Singer Touch & Sew, a really nice little machine. Actually, I wanted one badly many years ago when they first came out. I was sewing on a really old Sears model at the time for my three small girls, who are now grown. Someone will love it, and give it a good home!

I've been watching for a nice cheaply priced machine for a young (21 year old) friend. I loaned her a machine that was my grandpa-in-laws so she could sew but it's not mine to give to her. She can only afford to spend about $180 max for a machine. I've been watching for one at yard sales and checking Craigslist too.

I am glad you are going to see that someone can get it that would use it. What a waste to just throw away. We live in a throw away society.

I agree now adays kids don't learn to take care of things you just throw it out and get a new one, it doesn't help that most things are made to break within a few yrs also. I love my old workhorse machines for that reason.

I plan on giving the next free one I get to my niece who's expressed an interest in sewing. She had a sewing class in school and loves to sew, but her mother does not have a machine, mom has no interest in sewing herself. I get free ones every once in a while too. I tune them up and make sure they are running right. I have given then to family and to the local thrift store that all proceeds go to helping victums of domestic abuse. I hope you find someone who will really appreciate it!! I can't believe the stuff people throw away that are perfectly good and working well. Everybody thinks they have to have the latest and greatest and the minute their items aren't the latest its time to toss it out. What I don't understand is why she didn't donate it somewhere or put it on Craigslist to some extra cash. I know several people who would be excited to get a working sewing machine that they can learn to sew on.

yes i have given family memebers machines too. I don't know why but it seems that since we sew they find us LOL
I'd rather they find us than end up tossed and destroyed. We make sure someone who needs them gets to use them! :)

Could you donate to a local school, church or women's shelter? If nothing in your area, maybe a family little one wanting to learn to sew? I know you'll find a great home for this machine.

I found a couple of really good ones at garage sales a couple yrs. ago and now I am regretting I didn't get one of them for my GD to start on and am now looking out for one at garage sales.
You shouldn't have a problem finding a home for it -glad you rescued it.
